501(c)3 Status

Andean Health & Development (AHD), a U.S. based 501(c)3 corporation, was founded in 1995 by Dr. David Gaus and Rev. Theodore Hesburgh, CSC, President Emeritus, University of Notre Dame, to establish models of self-sustainable, comprehensive health care in poor, rural areas of Latin America where there are high risk populations of women and children. Saludesa is the foundation established in Ecuador by AHD in 1997 to carry out the work of AHD in Ecuador.

The Statutory Board of Directors under the bylaws of Andean Health and Development includes Rev. Theodore Hesburgh, C.S.C., Michael Heisler, M.D., MPH, and David Gaus, M.D., MPH & TM.

The Advisory Board of AHD, comprised of members with extensive experience in health care policy and administration, tropical public health, and successful private business ventures, provides evaluation, guidance, and recommendations to Saludesa. Advisory Board members, among others, include David Gaus, M.D., MPH & TM, Michael Heisler, M.D., MPH, from University of South Dakota, and Barnett Cline, M.D., MPH, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus, Department of Tropical Medicine, Tulane University.

Andean Health and Development’s Honorary Board Member is Rosalynn Carter, former First Lady for the United States.

Andean Health and Development (AHD) is tax exempt under section 501c3; Federal ID Number: 39-1809174

AHD financials are audited by Lulloff & Taylor, LLC, CPA.

Hospital PVM financials are audited by Pinto & Garces, Associados Cia. Ltda. member of Russell Bedford International.
