Fundraise in the US
If you would like to help make a difference in providing high quality affordable health care to the poor, please contact us. We have a need for passionate, talented individuals who can act as “Captains” in their local communities to help build awareness and raise funds. You can read one volunteer’s life-changing experience in the 2009 AHD Newsletter. (pdf) You can also help us spread the word by liking AHD on Facebook.
Volunteer in Ecuador
On a limited basis, we are looking for volunteers with medical expertise to provide medical care or leadership in Ecuador. Spanish fluency is required. Doctors or nurses would have to commit 3 months or more to working at the hospital. If you have a specialty, we welcome you to teach sections to our local residents. Please understand that no English is spoken at the hospitals, all charts are in Spanish, and all doctors and staff communicate in Spanish; Spanish language skills are very important. We hope that these short-term missions lead to a lifetime dedication to global health.
Volunteers and those doing rotations may be interested in the Saludesa medical manual (in Spanish and contextualized for rural Latin America) found here.
Thank you for your interest.
