Our vision is to fundamentally change rural health care in Latin America by providing quality, sustainable health care today and training the health leaders of tomorrow. We are now raising $6 million to build a teaching/research hospital in Santo Domingo, Ecuador to fulfill this vision.
“On the day we toured the only public hospital in Santo Domingo, we left at 5pm when there were already 20 people waiting in line outside, setting up cardboard boxes to sleep on, with hopes of seeing a doctor the following day.” - Excerpt from a report from a team from UC-Berkeley's Haas School of Business who recently evaluated the alarming demand for more hospital beds, better quality care, and more health care staff in Santo Domingo, Ecuador.
